Poincaré Exhibit in the Marie Curie Library

To mark the 100th anniversary of Jules Henri Poincaré's death, ICTP's Marie Curie Library has inaugurated an exhibition dedicated to the great scientist. It is displayed left of the library entrance and is open to visitors every day until 8 p.m.

Known as the last Universalist, Poincaré made fundamental contributions to pure and applied mathematics, mathematical physics, and celestial mechanics. He laid the foundations of topology and chaos theory, and anticipated the theory of special relativity. He formulated the Poincaré conjecture, which remained the most famous unsolved problems in mathematics until 2002-2003.

Poincaré died in Paris on 17 July 1912 at the age of 58.
